Associate Professor JUDr. Ing. Tomáš Moravec, Ph.D., Head of Department

Tomáš Moravec graduated from the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague (Mgr., JUDr.) and the Prague University of Economics (Ing., Ph.D.). He also works as an attorney, focusing mainly on Business, Insolvency and Enforcement Law. He also obtained experience in corporations, having worked in the bodies of several business companies. He authored a large volume of scholarly papers and co-authored a commentary on Insolvency Law.

Margita Kinclová, Secretary of the Department

She has been working as the secretary of the department since 1996. She is not only a key contact for our teachers and other faculty members, but also for students who approach her to consult deadlines for state final exams, paper submissions and defense of bachelor and master theses. Margita Kinclová is very efficient, friendly and always willing to help. Her office hours for students are listed in InSIS, but students are welcome to contact her by email as well.

Ing. Lucie Andreisová, Ph.D., Deputy Head of Department

She graduated from the Faculty of International Relations, Prague University of Economics and Business, majoring in “Business and Law”. She has been lecturing at the department since 2012 and successfully defended her Ph.D. degree there. She focuses primarily on corporate governance, risk management and implementation of compliance programs. In 2011-2024, she worked in several companies in the areas of banking, telecommunications, retail etc. (in the Czech Republic, Central Europe and the United Kingdom). In 2021-2024, she chaired the university Ethics Committee. Today, apart from academia, she is engaged in consulting activities in the field of compliance and risk management. She also leads the executive course Professional Diploma in Corporate Compliance. You can find a video presentation of her course here.

Professor JUDr. Martin Boháček, CSc.

Professor JUDr. Martin Boháček, CSc.

Martin Boháček graduated from the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague, where he also obtained his CSc. Degree (an equivalent of Ph.D.). In 1994 he was appointed Associate Professor and in 2008 Full Professor at the Prague University of Economics. He has been teaching courses in Intellectual Property Law, Competition Law and Comparative Business Law since the early 1970s. He authored or co-authored more than a hundred scholarly publications. He cooperates with the John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

Professor JUDr. Jan Dědič

Jan Dědič graduated from the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague, where he also obtained his JUDr. degree. In 1992 he was appointed Associate Professor in the field of Business Law and in 1995 Full Professor in the same field. He focuses mainly on issues of corporate law and securities law. Jan Dědič also works as a attorney. He is a long-term member of the Legislative Council of the Government of the Czech Republic.

Professor JUDr. Nicole Grmelová, Ph.D.

Nicole Grmelová has been working at the department since 2002. She graduated from Charles University in Prague (Mgr., JUDr.) and the University of Seville (Lda.). She obtained her Ph.D. at the Prague University of Economics. Between 2004 and 2008 she worked as an inhouse lawyer-linguist in the European Parliament in Brussels. Between 2009 and 2012, she worked as a freelance lawyer-linguist for the Court of Justice of the EU. She teaches courses specialized in EU Law and EU institutions in Czech, English and Spanish.

Daniel Houska graduated from Masaryk University (Faculty of Economics and Administration and Faculty of Law) and obtained his Ph.D. degree at Prague University of Economics. He acts as an arbitrator for commercial disputes at the Arbitration Court attached to the Chamber of Commerce and the Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic, is a member of the Legislation Section of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, and lectures at the Czech Chamber of Auditors. His work focuses mainly on contract law, contractual risk allocation and sustainable finance.

JUDr. Radim Kříž, Ph.D.

Radim Kříž graduated from the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague (Mgr., JUDr.) and the Prague University of Economics and Business (Ph.D.). Since 1996, he has been working as an attorney, focusing on Corporate Law and Securities Law. He also teaches related courses at the Prague University of Economics. He acts in the supervisory bodies of several business companies and published widely in the field of business and corporate law.

Jan Levý graduated from the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague, and the Prague University of Economics, where he also obtained his Ph.D. He works as an independent lawyer and deals with the agenda of Criminal, Civil and Business Law, as well as with the agenda of residence permits of foreigners. Since 2012, he has been teaching law courses at universities, leading seminars with an emphasis on practical legal aspects.

Radim Patočka graduated from the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague, and the Faculty of International Relations, Prague University of Economics and Business, where he also obtained his Ph.D. He works as an attorney, focusing on Civil Law, Business Law, Tax Law, Intellectual Property Law and ICT Law. He cooperates with software companies on software development. For many years, he held legal and managerial positions at the Financial Administration of the Czech Republic.

JUDr. Mgr. Juraj Szabó, Ph.D.

Juraj Szabó is a lawyer and expert in corporate governance, compliance and institutional responsibility, with more than thirty years of international experience in both the private and public sectors. His professional and academic work focuses on the criminal liability of legal entities, the ethical aspects of compliance management systems and questions of corporate governance, combining legal regulation, applied ethics and institutional theory with extensive practical experience in organizational management and decision-making. Since 2020, he has served as President of the Arbitration Court attached to the Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic. Alongside his academic activities, he also works as an independent external advisor in the field of corporate governance and compliance.

Petr Štěpánek graduated from the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague (Mgr.) and the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at the University of Economics in Prague (Ing., Ph.D.). He has been working at the department since 2003. In his activities, he mainly deals with issues of Public Procurement, Public Law regulation of business and subsidies. He held the position of Vice-Dean for Development and Finance at Faculty of International Relations between 2005-2024.

Mgr. Ing. Tereza Vaňkátová, Ph.D.

Tereza Vaňkátová graduated from the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague, and from the Business and Law program at the Faculty of International Relations, Prague University of Economics and Business, where she also obtained her Ph.D. In 2018, she passed the professional judicial examination, and between 2021-2025 she served as a judge at the District Court for Prague 6, specializing in commercial, civil and labour-law disputes. Since 2026, she has served as a Vice-President of the District Court for Prague 3. Her research and teaching focus on the procedural aspects of Competition Law and on Labour Law.

Ing. Tomáš Votava, M.A., Ph.D.

Ing. Tomáš Votava, M.A., Ph.D.

Tomáš Votava teaches at the department as an Assistant Professor. He graduated from the Praguae University of Economics (Ing. and Ph.D.) and a joint master’s degree program in seven European universities, “Economics of International Trade and European Integration” (M.A.). In addition to Business Law, he specializes in Intellectual Property Law and Information Technology Law. In the field of music, he acts as a performing artist.
